Matt and Kelsey

Traveling to Belize was a wonderful experience! for us as a married couple! It was a blessing to grow individually in our walks with Christ as well as together as a couple. We helped many students at Iguana Creek Government School primarily twelve 6th, 7th and 8th graders. We assisted them in reading, writing formal and informal letters, math techniques and problem solving. We focused on building relationships with the students and demonstrating Christ’s love to them. Our gifts in special education and mental health counseling were used as we met and evaluated a young girl to see if she met the qualifications for a learning disability. After observing her, along with additional information from her primary teacher, we affirmed she met the criteria for multiple learning disabilities and wrote a letter formally requesting she be given academic assistance. God truly used us to shed light on the needs of this student and gave us the voice to help get her the support she needs. We also took an adventure to see God’s creation exploring some of the Mayan ruins and different landscapes. Our meals were all home cooked and delicious. We went tarantula hunting and caught and held one, (Matt did, anyway). We felt God at work in us and our team. We are honored to have been given the opportunity to be Christ’s hands and feet and without hesitation would go back to Belize again!
