Prayer Requests
August 4, 2008
Isaiah Krull, Cody Brown, and Jordan Meier:
-Isaiah Krull—From the August 4 Care Page blog: “…he is doing an excellent job on his breathing (he's gone the last 2 hours on his own!) and that his ICP (brain pressure #) has stayed under 10. They backed off the amount of spinal fluid they were taking out to see how his body would compensate and his number only went up to 11. So, they decided to bring him out of his sedation and see how the ICP # would respond. It remained at 11-12 and only spiked briefly to 15. His heart rate increased to about 129 or so but then came back below 100. I know these numbers might be confusing for some, but I'm learning these were all good signs and that he was tolerating all of it! Then, I asked him to wiggle his toes, and he DID! Twice!! He squeezed the nurses hand with his left hand and also on the right. He was also blinking his eyes! Since he did so well with all of this, they are talking about doing the surgery on his cheek today or tomorrow, whenever they can get him into OR… We love you all and can't thank you enough for the prayers and support we feel. It's incredible!”
-Cody Brown—From the August 4 Care Page blog—“He has kind of a rough time in the mornings. He has been throwing up and yesterday his head ache was pretty bad. By afternoon he was feeling better so we are hoping he will be feeling better today too. The doctors said it is probably the medicine that is making him sick. We all appreciate the support from everyone. All the visits, messages, calls, and prayers have been a great help getting us thru this. I find myself starting to worry and thinking about the what ifs and I have to remember that we put Cody in God’s hands and he couldn’t be in a safer place.”
-Jordan Meier—Supportive buddy of the boys. Pray for him as he supports his friends and make emotional adjustments after the accident.
-Seth Ebling—Supportive buddy of the boys. Pray for him as supports his friends during their recovery.
If you would like to follow Isaiah and Cody’s progress, a hospital blog page has been established by the families. Go to: www.carepages.com/uichildrens. You will be asked to sign in, create a password, etc. After you have established your identity, you may visit Isaiah’s blog by entering “IsaiahKrull” in the name box. You may visit Cody’s page by entering “CodyBrown” in the name box (the family is still using this page). This is a wonderful tool for being updated by the parents on the boys’ progress.
-Janice Ephraim—I would like to thank each of you for praying for Hannah and want to share a good report with you. Hannah is still in the Intensive Care Unit but is progressing well. They performed a Cat Scan on Friday and did not see any leaking fluid and the area where the tumor was removed was flat (no tumor indication). Yesterday they removed one of the two shunts they put in during the recent surgery to drain the spinal fluid leaking in the brain. We thank the Lord for Hannah's good progress and continue to pray for a full recovery.
-Becky Frank—Please add my mother Jerri Hill on the prayer list. She will have open heart surgery for a valve replacement on Tuesday August 5th. We are home in Tennessee to help now. Please add James' grandmother Martha Payne to the prayer list as well. Martha had a stroke on Saturday and is in the hospital as well. Thanks for all of your prayers.
-From Matt Rittgers to Jesse Tink via Facebook: "Hilary and I are alive and well here in CZ. We had an amazing camp and I have some wicked stories to talk about. Some of our camp games involved things such as wandering through the deep forest at midnight aided only by dim candle-light-all while trying to dodge the 'hunters' with flash lights. God has watched over us for the most part. There were a few injuries as well as a minor automobile accident, but everyone appears to be well. Tomorrow Hilary and I leave for Prague where we will be spending the remainder of our trip. I'm asking the staff to pray for my team to have a safe trip home this next week as well as a healthy re-entry experience into American culture. Can't wait to see you guys and hear what God has been doing back home..... matt
-Angie Novick—Pray for her daughter, Karen Lagel. Karen has been having mental problems and this morning she wanted to harm herself. She was sent to Palmer Hospital in West Union and transferred to Allen Hospital where her doctor practices. Please pray for Karen, her husband, their 2 children and Karen’s parents.
