VISION

Our mission is to bring a “No Matter” church to Buchanan County . . . and, eventually, within driving range of every other county in Iowa. Why? Because we think it’s crazy there are people in our state who can’t find a relevant, engaging church where no matter who you are, where you’ve been, what you’ve done or what’s been done to you, God loves you, and you can look for God. Read more about our mission and vision.

HISTORY

In 2008, Prairie Lakes Church planned to add a large wing onto its Cedar Falls Campus. The Parkersburg F-5 tornado and subsequent flooding of the Cedar River basin arrested those plans and caused the church to postpone its expansion. In 2009, the Board decided not to create a mega-site, but to explore a multi-site model by opening a campus in Waterloo. Between 2010 and 2017, Prairie Lakes Church opened six sites. In January 2019, after six months of prayer and research, the church announced it would open its next campus in Independence.

FAQs

Q: Site search?

A: We’ve looked at seven parcels and three facilities with an eye for both short-term rental and long-term building/remodel. We have not signed any contracts and will continue looking over the next few months.

Q: Campus Pastor?

A: We're excited to announce Matt Rittgers has accepted the Independence Campus Pastor position! He grew up attending First Baptist/Prairie Lakes Church and has been associate pastor at First Baptist Church in Forest City, Iowa, the past six years. Matt and his wife Hilary are pictured with their children Liddie, Eliott and Lottie. Welcome, Rittgers family!

Q: Financial Targets?

A: We are encouraged to see a steady migration toward the Independence fund by attendees planning to participate at our Independence site. In the first six weeks of 2019, we’ve received approximately $12,500 in regular/ongoing/online contributions and have spent very little. This is moving us aggressively toward our target of $12,500 monthly cash flow.
